Chōchō Musume
(Butterfly Maiden)

Inspired by the refined world of the geisha, this mask explores the art of transformation. The painted face captures centuries of tradition: the careful application of beauty as performance, the mask within the mask. Geishas were living art, their every gesture deliberate, their presence a study in controlled elegance and cultural refinement. In creating this mask, I sought to honour that duality - the human hidden beneath the porcelain perfection, the strength required to embody such delicate beauty.
